Preservation Commission names chair and re‑elects Vice Chair for 2026

The Sacramento Preservation Commission conducted officer elections Jan. 21 for the 2026 calendar year. Commissioners reviewed eligibility rules (a commissioner may serve no more than two calendar years in either officer position).

Commissioner (speaker 4) nominated "Patricia on Barker" for chair; the nomination was seconded and passed on a recorded roll‑call vote. Commissioner Mikslavkin nominated Vice Chair Merker for another term as vice chair; the nomination was seconded and approved by roll‑call vote. The newly elected officers will begin their terms at the next regular meeting.

Clerk staff reminded commissioners that Commissioner Mikslavkin is ineligible to serve as chair this year due to the two‑year limit. No further member comments were offered in the meeting’s member comments period.
