Horry County's Administration Committee directed staff to pursue congressionally directed spending (earmarks) for several transportation and public-safety projects.
Administration staff (Speaker 8) presented the recommended projects and asked the committee to authorize submission of requests in partnership with the county’s federal delegation. The projects listed included a Myrtle Beach airport runway reconstruction, a proposed SC-22 extension, Conway River Crossing, Carolina Bays Parkway, Conway Perimeter Road and a radio communications tower in Longs.
Committee members did not ask for substantive changes and approved the request to pursue earmarks by voice vote. Staff said these requests will be aligned with county strategic priorities in transportation and public safety and pursued through the normal earmark coordination process with federally elected officials.
Next steps: staff will prepare formal requests in coordination with the county's federal delegation.
