Trustee Stacy moved on Jan. 26 for the Village Board of Beecher to adopt an ordinance updating multiple municipal construction-code provisions; the board approved the measure in a roll-call vote. The ordinance was identified in meeting discussion as ordinance 1448 and is scheduled to take effect March 1, 2026.
The measure alters the village's construction-code regulations and repeals conflicting village-code sections and ordinances. During discussion, a board member noted that the March 1 effective date is intended to accommodate a required 30-day notice to the Illinois Capital Development Board before the change takes effect. Trustee Stacy told the board, “The ordinance will be effective 03/01/2026.”
Board members voted by roll call; the meeting records show the members called voted 'Yes,' carrying the ordinance. The board did not record any amendments to the ordinance on the floor during the meeting.
The ordinance's immediate effect will be to replace existing language that the board said conflicted with the updated provisions. The board scheduled no further public hearings on the change at this meeting. The clerk or village administrator is expected to complete the formal notice to the Illinois Capital Development Board ahead of the March 1 effective date.
