Alderman Alicia Sonya introduced Board Bill 99 on behalf of residents asking for traffic calming at the intersection of Shenandoah and Virginia Avenue in the Tower Grove East neighborhood. "What I have in front of you all today is just a really simple bill that is putting a 3 way stop sign at the intersection of Shenandoah and Virginia Avenue in the Tower Grove East neighborhood," Sonya said, describing repeated neighborhood requests near a restaurant, a community garden and a little book nook.
Sonya told the committee she would notify the residents who raised the concern: "I look forward to emailing the residents who have asked me about this stop sign today," she said, noting she had set up the hearing to respond directly to constituents.
There were no questions from committee members and no members of the public offered comment. The chair called for a motion for a due‑pass recommendation; a motion and second were recorded and the clerk reported six "aye" votes. Board Bill 99 was passed out of committee with a due‑pass recommendation.
The committee did not record further details on implementation or funding in the hearing; the bill will proceed from committee with the recommendation recorded.
