Corcoran council amends appointments, approves consent agenda and confirms new finance director

The Corcoran City Council voted on Jan. 8 to amend its annual appointments to include an acting mayor for 2026, naming Council member Jeremy Nichols to the position, and approved the consent agenda items laid out for the meeting.

The mayor proposed folding item 9a into item 6c and eliminating 9a, then moved to approve the agenda as amended; a council member moved and seconded the motion and the council approved it. Later, the mayor moved to amend the annual appointments to include the 2026 acting mayor position and recommended Jeremy Nichols continue in that role. After a motion and second, the council approved the amendment by voice vote; the meeting transcript records ayes and no roll‑call tally.

During staff reports, the city announced that Matt Sellmeier will begin as the city’s new finance director on the coming Monday. Staff outlined a transition plan intended to run roughly three months, with a target completion around March 31. The council expressed appreciation for staff work on the hire and transition.
