Republic Services representatives Cindy Rogers and Travis Comfort presented the company’s 2024 municipal report to the Tualatin City Council on Jan. 26, summarizing service levels, program changes under Oregon law and community outreach.
Rogers said drivers visited more than 6,000 households 12 times per month in 2024 and that Republic collected nearly 9,000 tons of residential material (about 1.5 tons per household). The company reported roughly $13,000,000 in 2024 revenue and paid about $275,000 in franchise fees. Industrial hauls and commercial tonnage were stable year over year.
Comfort reviewed the Recycling Modernization Act (effective July 1) and said the law establishes an extended‑producer responsibility system and a uniform statewide collection list. He said producers and haulers will fund more education and outreach, and that county and city staff are coordinating to ensure compliance. Rogers and Comfort noted Republic received its first electric truck in October 2024 and two more in August 2025; electric vehicles bring lower emissions and additional safety technology.
Councilors asked follow‑up questions about the Wilsonville recycling depot schedule (closures during construction and some holiday closures), the bulky‑waste pickup program and the Recycle Plus purple bin subscription service for hard‑to‑recycle items. Comfort described the purple bin as a $2.50 monthly subscription service with two pickups per month and said some residents share bins to reduce cost.
