An Unidentified Speaker (Announcer) said an "exciting development called The Walk is taking shape at Norwalk's entertainment district," describing the project as a new hub for shopping, dining and community gatherings.
The speaker said construction fencing will be visible at the site on January 27 and that most daily construction work will wrap up by midafternoon. "Measures are in place to reduce impacts of noise and dust," the Unidentified Speaker added.
City hall will remain open during construction, the announcement said, and visitors are being directed to park in the Civic Center parking structure. The speaker advised motorists to "follow signs to enter on Avenida Manuel Salinas or Civic Center Drive." The statement also noted that nearby services — including the courthouse, the Los Angeles County Norwalk Library and businesses such as AMC — will be open while work proceeds.
For residents needing vital records, the announcement directed people to the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder Building at 12400 Imperial Highway for birth, death or marriage records requests.
The Unidentified Speaker invited the public to a groundbreaking ceremony on February 7 at 10 a.m. at 12700 Norwalk Boulevard and provided a project website for updates and RSVPs: www.visitthewalk.com.
The announcement did not include financial details, construction contractor names or permitting timelines. Organizers said the website will carry updates and RSVP information for the public and media.
