The Davis County Commission covered routine county business on Jan. 27, including presentations and votes on contracts and a board of equalization register.
Blair Stringham, regional supervisor with the Utah division of product resources (Northern Region), presented a payment in lieu of taxes to the commission and described local recreation properties the division manages. The payment amount was reported in the meeting as “490.3.” Commissioners thanked the department for stewardship of local natural areas.
Kent Anderson presented a sponsorship agreement with the Sports Event and Tourism Association to underwrite attendance at the Sports ETA Symposium. The county will pay $16,000 from tourism-restricted funds for the event period listed (01/27/2026–07/01/2026); commissioners clarified the actual event window is a three-day meeting in June.
Controller Scott Park described a one-year renewal contract with Utah State University Extension to support 4-H, family and consumer science, water-quality, horticulture and extension operations. The county held the contract amount at the same level as prior years rather than increasing it for inflation. A motion to approve the contract passed with one commissioner announcing an abstention.
Brian Hatch of the Health Department presented Amendment No. 4 to a contract with the Utah Department of Health and Human Services for childhood lead poisoning prevention, a receivable of $8,568 covering 2025–2026; the commission approved the amendment by voice vote.
Consent agenda items approved included renewal/approval of SCRAM continuous transdermal alcohol monitoring program agreements for the Davis County Sheriff’s Office and a contract with Live Assist LLC for in-home services for elderly or disabled adults.
The commission convened the Board of Equalization to consider a register presented by Scott Park that included 21 appeals, 28 corrections on the auditor side and four additional assessor-side corrections; the register was approved and the commission reconvened. The meeting concluded with closing remarks urging residents to follow the state legislative session and property-tax discussions.
Next steps: Implementation and administration of the approved contracts proceed under the departments named; the Board of Equalization appeals will be processed as recorded.
