Council authorizes sewer service audit; staff reports recent vendor visit to plant

The Mona City Council on Jan. 27 authorized up to $9,800 for a sewer service audit to be performed by Veolia Corporation.

A council member moved to approve the contract authorization for the audit; the motion was seconded and the council approved the expenditure.

Separately, public works staff reported that the manufacturer of the sewer plant visited recently and compiled a list of recommended fixes aimed at extending membrane life and addressing valve issues. Staff said the visit produced a list of potential solutions that they hoped would reduce future repair costs and prolong equipment life.

Staff also reported and briefly discussed a water leak that occurred the night before the meeting; crews had removed traffic barriers and addressed the problem. The council did not take separate action on the plant visit at the meeting beyond authorizing the audit and directing staff to continue working with vendors.
