St. Augustine Beach to host 'For the Love of Art' market at Lakeside Park on Feb. 1

The City of St. Augustine Beach will host "For the Love of Art," a community arts and vendor market, from 12 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, at Lakeside Park, city officials announced Monday during the "Mondays with the Mayor" broadcast. Finance Director Patty Delice said the event is a new offering city staff has discussed for years and is timed ahead of Valentine’s Day to showcase local artists.

"So this is a new event for the Love of Art that we've talked about for years trying to implement ahead of Valentine's Day," said Patty Delice, the city's finance director. She said Lakeside Park’s "quaint" setting made it a good fit and that several repeat vendors are expected.

Delice listed anticipated vendor items, including candles, honey, graphic T-shirts, gold and silver jewelry, bath and body products and homemade décor. She also named food options and vendors, saying Sunrise Sweets will attend and will offer coffee and hot cocoa; other food items mentioned included hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken fingers and french fries.

Delice said the event will feature live music: "Hope You're Happy Band," described as two local musicians who will play guitars and sing. She cautioned that Florida’s variable weather makes forecasts uncertain but encouraged residents to attend.

Mayor Beth Sweeney closed the brief segment by thanking Delice and city staff for organizing the event. "We'll see you next week," Sweeney said at the end of the broadcast.

The city provided the event location as Lakeside Park, 2340 A1A South. No admission fee or permit details were stated during the broadcast; organizers asked residents to "come out and join us for the fun," according to Delice.
