The Faribault Public Schools School Board voted unanimously to indefinitely postpone consideration of proposed language and cultural classes, saying they need fuller curriculum documentation and cost information before the district adopts the courses.
The board reconvened an item first heard at a special meeting on June 2, 2025. Director Wolf moved to remove the proposal from the table and then moved that the board postpone consideration indefinitely; Director Boudreaux seconded the motion. During discussion, directors said the administration had provided an initial proposal but not a complete curriculum scope and sequence, sample materials, staffing or cost estimates that would let board members evaluate classroom impact. The motion passed 7-0.
Director Wolf, who made the motion, told colleagues that administration should bring proposals back if and when they can supply more complete materials. Several board members said they wanted to review a full curriculum and understand funding sources and student time-on-task before approving the classes. Director Moore asked specifically about cost and the time students would be pulled from other classes, noting concerns about 30-minute pulls observed in materials the board received.
Board chair explained that a motion to postpone indefinitely leaves the item off the active calendar unless the board or administration reintroduces it for reconsideration. No formal approval or rejection of the curriculum occurred at the meeting.
The next regular business meeting is scheduled for Feb. 17, 2026; board members and administrators indicated any renewed proposal should be circulated well before that meeting so directors can review materials.
