County approves $35,000 Diamond Rio contract, retains ticket revenue and 10% of merchandise

The Uinta County Board approved a contract committing to a Diamond Rio concert as the kickoff for the county fair.

Melanie Silcox of Western Park presented the contract terms and asked commissioners to approve the cost amount. She said the base fee for the band is $35,000 and that staff planned a $1,500 cash buyout to reduce catering logistics; lights, sound, hotels and car rental are additional and were described as standard industry costs. Silcox said the county will receive 100% of ticket revenue and 10% of merchandise sales and estimated amphitheater seating at about 1,100 tickets.

Commissioners voted to approve the contract amount as presented and directed staff to finalize the contract after production and legal approvals. Staff said the production manager (Brad Wells) had reviewed budget considerations. The contract will be finalized and executed according to standard county contracting procedures.
