Votes at a glance: committee advances study of rideshare data and two carryover bills

At the conclusion of the Labor Committee’s work sessions, members voted on several carryover bills.

LD 725: Representative Beck moved, Representative Macias seconded a motion that LD 725 "ought to pass as amended," directing the Efficiency Maine Trust to evaluate workforce and compensation for Trust‑funded projects with an advisory group; roll call: 6 in favor, 4 opposed. Committee staff will clarify drafting language and funding/deadline options.

LD 2084: Representative Archer moved, Representative Collins seconded a motion that LD 2084 "ought to pass"; the committee recorded 9 in favor and 1 opposed on the roll call. The bill corrects statutory references and authorizes the Director of the Office of Professional and Occupational Regulation to impose disciplinary sanctions on transient sellers of home repair services.

Other actions: The committee reconsidered an earlier item (auctioneer licensing) and changed a limit by unanimous consent; language review and signature gathering were assigned to committee staff. Minutes and drafting clarifications will be prepared before the items go to the next stage.
