Chaska council authorizes bid solicitation for new Municipal Service Building

The council authorized staff to solicit public bids for a new Municipal Service Building by adopting Resolution No. 2026‑2. Staff described the procurement timeline: advertise beginning Jan. 27, pre‑bid meeting Feb. 4, bid opening Feb. 19, anticipated award and associated contract actions in mid‑March, and site mobilization beginning around May 1 if schedules hold.

Staff and the construction manager (RJM, referenced by staff) said outreach will include local advertising, the city website and RJM's contractor networks; the city expects multiple general contractors and numerous subcontractors to participate based on recent similar projects. "If you approve this evening, they will officially go out tomorrow," staff said when announcing the advertisement schedule. Council adopted the motion authorizing solicitation on a motion by Council Member Schimmel, seconded by Council Member Hatfield, and the motion carried by voice vote.
