Several residents told the Dearborn City Council that persistent problems at the car wash at 7333 Wyoming Ave. have created a public-nuisance and safety issue. Rita Talib described "massive statue-sized icicles" formed by running water and said loitering, loud bass and explicit videos have harmed neighborhood quality of life. "This is real life and there are people and children who live there," she said, urging immediate action and asking whether tickets had been issued to patrons.
Director Jordan Torte and DPW Director Tim Hawkins said the city previously used court action to temporarily close the business and issued a right-to-cure in May 2024. Torte confirmed the closure and said owners retain a right to cure; Hawkins and Chief Issa Shaheen said staff will inspect the site and Commander Bazzi will follow up on enforcement and body-camera evidence. Councilman Parris asked administration to compile complaint history and property-maintenance and police calls over the past year to consider a nuisance-abatement hearing if problems persist.
Residents asked for concrete steps and faster enforcement; council members responded that the city will reissue tickets if necessary, coordinate with building and environmental permitting authorities where water-management permits may be required, and send a report on violations, ownership timeline and outstanding certificates of occupancy for council review.
