Finance Director Chris presented the village's year‑end financial picture to council on Jan. 27, including income tax receipts, fund balances and payroll information.
December receipts and distributions: The director reported December income tax receipts transcribed as approximately $672,279; that amount and related deposits were distributed among the general fund, road and sidewalk fund, debt service and capital projects funds. Year‑to‑date collections for the road and sidewalk tax were reported in the transcript as approximately $6,407,000 with expenditures of about $5,007,005.58.
Fund balances and performance: At year end the general fund balance was reported as $3,800,000 and all funds totaled approximately $8,200,000. The director said general fund receipts were about 106% of estimates and total receipts across funds were about 102% of estimates; expenditures ran below estimate (general fund 86%).
Overtime and salaries: December overtime was $45,078 with police, fire and public works accounting for 52%, 33% and 9% respectively. Total salary and benefits for 2025 were reported as $6,395,000, a 15% increase over 2024.
Audit and approvals: The village is under audit, with auditors reviewing 2024 while staff work on 2025 statements. Council approved the bank reconciliation, receipt and payment listings for December 2025 by motion and roll call.
The finance director provided a detailed packet in lieu of a full finance committee meeting and noted he will supply auditors with related‑party questionnaires requested for the audit process.
