At its biannual meeting held during the commissioners 27 session, the Oliver County Park Board approved a $1,000 contribution to fund an engineering study for the Center Stance School playground and increased fairgrounds toilet funding by $500.
Speaker 2 moved to allocate $1,000 toward a playground effort and $500 more for toilets; Speaker 11, who described a committee that had already engaged an engineer to develop estimates, clarified that the donation would help pay for project planning rather than the full construction costs. The board amended the motion to direct the $1,000 specifically to the study; the amendment carried and the amended motion passed by voice vote.
"There is a committee that was put together to address all of that stuff," said Speaker 11, describing the school board 27s work to hire an engineer and develop an estimate for improvements. The park board noted its available park budget and that it had already provided some toilet support previously; the approved allocations come from the board 27s park budget and were presented as a partial contribution to larger fundraising efforts.
Next steps: staff will record the donation in park board accounts and expect the school committee to return estimates from the engineer; the Park Board adjourned and returned the meeting to the county commissioners.
