The Board of Supervisors approved a revised change order for the Pine Crest renovation during its Jan. 27 meeting after Facilities Director Rory Giving explained the need to remove one purchase request and to consolidate future flooring scope into a single forthcoming change order.
Giving told the board that the project had uncovered original terrazzo/mosaic tile in rough condition under areas being renovated, requiring additional fill to level the floors before installing VCT flooring. Because of that unexpected condition, he asked the board to remove PR#50 (flooring renovations and scope additions) from the immediate change order to avoid repetitive change orders and instead consolidate those costs later.
He recommended reducing the previously proposed change order from $34,817 to $21,729. Supervisors asked clarifying questions about which areas of historical mosaic tile would remain exposed; Giving said the stairwells and the stage chapel area would be preserved.
The board reintroduced the motion with the corrected dollar amount, the motion was seconded, and the roll call vote approved the change order.
The facilities presentation also outlined FY27 operating and capital needs for other courthouse and Pine Crest projects, including elevator cab work, carpet replacement, building automation upgrades and a proposed $150,000 caulking contract for courthouse window perimeters.
