Committee postpones proposed changes to special-events ordinance to next meeting

The Public Works, Parks, Recreation, and Environment Committee on Jan. 28 postponed consideration of an ordinance that would amend Chapter 7 (Special Events) of the Hartford Municipal Code.

The chair introduced item 2.2 as a mayoral ordinance amending Chapter 7 and announced there would be no speakers that night because the committee planned "to postpone it due to having, you know, further conversation on the details of this ordinance." A member moved to postpone the matter to the committee's next meeting in February, the motion was seconded, and the chair said the item will be taken up at that time.

No substantive debate or public testimony on the ordinance occurred during the meeting; committee members said additional detail and conversation were needed before the committee would act.
