The Wasilla City Council on Jan. 19 approved Resolution Serial Number 2604, authorizing a $52,473 amendment to the contract between the City of Wasilla and Stamtec Consulting Services Inc. for geotechnical investigation services.
Councilmember Graham moved the resolution and Councilmember Rubio seconded. Graham had requested the item be pulled from the consent agenda for clarification. A staff representative said the original RFP included multiple tasks and the city is adding additional tasks as they are identified and as funding allows. "The RFP that provided the contract had multiple tasks within it... we're kind of doling out authority as the project makes it clear what we need to do next and as funding is available," staff explained.
Council discussed whether the added tasks represented routine phasing of a large, multi-part project or an omission; staff characterized it as routine project phasing tied to funding availability. The resolution was approved without objection.
The amendment will allow the next phases of geotechnical work to proceed; staff did not identify a separate funding source beyond the amendment in the motion language.
