Keith Myrell, Parks, Culture and Recreation Director, outlined a package of park improvements intended to expand recreation and accessibility across the community.
Myrell said the Garden Club center is nearing reopening for public rentals, with a capacity of 150, an upgraded kitchen and restroom, and a bridal suite intended to support community gatherings, meetings and special events. He described the facility as once again becoming available for community use.
He also announced plans to install new outdoor fitness equipment near the walk-in track, saying the additions will provide more opportunities for residents to stay active and "enjoy the park in new ways." Myrell provided no contractor names or funding sources for the installations during his remarks.
Construction is "well underway" on new public restrooms at Millville Waterfront Park, and Myrell said, "If everything stays on schedule, the project is expected to wrap up later this spring." He did not provide a specific completion date or a cost estimate.
At Daffin Park, Myrell said work will include new ball-field lighting for the multi-purpose football and soccer field to allow extended evening use and better support games, practices and community events. He mentioned additional improvements to continue enhancing the park experience but did not detail those projects.
