Trustee Prakowski moved and the board approved a resolution authorizing execution of an amended intergovernmental agreement with the DuPage Metropolitan Enforcement Group (DUMEC).
Police leadership also asked the board to approve two memoranda of understanding. Staff recommended affiliating the village’s explorer/cadet post with Public Safety Cadets, a nonprofit that reduces registration costs and expands training access; the chief said the affiliation would lower per‑cadet costs (from $62 per child under prior arrangements to $20 per child per year under the cadet nonprofit) and reduce rechartering costs, and the board gave unanimous consent to proceed.
Separately, the chief explained a governor‑signed law now prohibits law enforcement officers from issuing municipal tickets and citations to students on school grounds during the school day. Staff consolidated the body‑worn camera MOU and duties/responsibilities MOU with Lake Park High School District 108 to incorporate the change; the board authorized staff to finalize the combined MOU with the district and file it with counsel.
Officials characterized these actions as procedural updates to align local practice with state law and to expand youth training opportunities; the DUMEC agreement is an intergovernmental arrangement to continue regional enforcement collaboration.
