Committee recommends bill to create court navigation pilot be reported as amended

Janet Stocco (OPLA) explained LD 1965, a resolve establishing a University of Maine System-convened task force to design a court navigation pilot. The sponsor asked to update the report date to a January date to make the product useful in the first session of a future legislature.

Committee members said the change was technical and in line with prior unanimous committee action. Representative Halloran moved an ought-to-pass-as-amended recommendation; the committee voted in favor with recorded roll-call votes (affirmative votes and absentees recorded in the minutes). The amendment will include the date change and prior-year committee amendments when printed as an executed committee bill. The committee directed staff to transmit the committee report and print the bill as amended.
