Transportation Committee approves two bills in executive session

The House Committee on Transportation met in executive session and approved two measures. Chair moved that House Bill 18 53 be voted 'due pass'; after no discussion the clerk recorded 10 ayes and 1 present and the committee gave HB 18 53 a due-pass recommendation.

Later the committee considered House Bill 21 45. Representative Mayhew offered Amendment No. 1 (described to add population figures to certain city-limit signs and to clarify allowable advertising on high-school outfield fences). The committee adopted Amendment No. 1, then voted to roll that language into a committee substitute and adopt the substitute. A roll call on the substitute produced 11 ayes and 2 present; the committee voted to pass the House committee substitute for HB 21 45. Several members noted that the amendment reflected longstanding local practices and said remaining fiscal and implementation details could be addressed on the House floor.

With those formal actions complete, the committee closed executive session and moved to the public-hearing portion of its agenda.
