House advances multiple bills to third reading and adopts several on Jan. 15, 2026

The Michigan House spent the session advancing a slate of bills to second and third reading and taking recorded votes on a number of measures across policy areas.

Clerk announcements and committee reports listed bills made available electronically and recommended actions from committees, including health policy recommendations for several bills. The House introduced a series of bills referred to appropriate committees, including proposals touching the Michigan Vehicle Code, General Sales Tax Act, Management and Budget Act, revisions to the school code, the general property tax act and weights and measures laws.

Several calendar items were advanced to third reading without amendment and/or placed on immediate passage by motion of the majority floor leader. Where recorded, vote tallies in the transcript are reported by the clerk (for example, the committee-recommended substitute on a property-tax bill was first rejected and then a subsequent substitute was adopted prior to advancing that bill to third reading). The House also received a performance audit from the Office of Child Support, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.

The clerk repeatedly read calendar items and committees scheduled meetings for Jan. 22. After completing business and voting on the listed items, the House adjourned until Thursday, Jan. 22, 2026, at 12:00 noon.
