The Tangipahoa Parish Council voted to move forward with condemnation proceedings for a structure at 74364 North River Road in Kentwood after staff described the building as a public-safety hazard.
Terry, a parish staff member who presented the assessment, told the council the structure is "a double wide trailer and it's missing several windows, the front door, part of the most of the roof and the back wall." He said the trailer was damaged during a hurricane when a tree fell through the back and that former occupants had moved out.
Terry said the case was reviewed by Robert Morgan, the chief building official, and that Morgan and President Robbie Miller signed to advance the matter; the parish mailed a registered letter to the lender, Lakeview Lending Services, LLC, on Dec. 16, and staff reported no response to calls or emails. Council members discussed whether to give additional time for contact but ultimately voted to proceed.
A motion to advance the condemnation was made by Council Member Senagra and carried on roll call with affirmative votes from members present. The council did not specify any further scheduling or enforcement steps in the meeting record; staff indicated only that notice had been sent and that the case had been administratively reviewed.
