Romulus council adopts $151,875 budget amendment for two police SUVs, introduces CDBG amendment and approves $2,022,633.55 warrant

The Romulus City Council on Jan. 26 gave final approval to a budget amendment (25‑26‑14) totaling $151,875 to purchase and upfit two Ford police SUVs. The second reading and final adoption was moved by Mister Jones, seconded by Mister Bullock, and approved on roll-call votes.

The mayor also requested introduction of budget amendment 25‑26‑13 to recognize Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) revenue and corresponding expense for a senior‑center generator. Ms. Roscoe moved to introduce that amendment; the council voted to introduce it at the meeting. The meeting record did not state a dollar amount for the CDBG amendment.

Council also approved Warrant 26‑02, which the clerk read with fund-by-fund amounts; the total listed for all funds during the motion was $2,022,633.55 and the council voted to approve the warrant. The warrant included multiple fund totals (general fund, major street fund, public safety fund, library fund, TIFA, downtown development authority and others). The clerk and council did not identify any exceptions or roll-call objections.

The police‑vehicle appropriation is effective immediately as adopted; the introduced CDBG amendment will follow standard budget-introduction processes before final adoption. No additional appropriations tied to TIF or LDFA were listed in the warrant action at the meeting.
