Council members debated project 6952 (Wasatch Woodlands) after staff said the sponsor had removed equipment purchases and reduced the request to about $16,400 for on-the-ground work. Angie and others expressed strong reservations about including Kingfisher Wetland in the funded work because the site is owned by Weber County, is not easily accessible to the public, and there was no clear financial contribution from the county or a property-level cost breakout.
Angie said she "struggles with using funds on that area" without clearer partner commitment; others agreed that the council needed a detailed separation of costs by property. The council discussed three options (leave the item tabled, ask the sponsor for a revised project excluding Kingfisher, or approve as-is) and ultimately adopted a motion from Angie, seconded by Randy, to table the request and ask the sponsor to resubmit the proposal excluding the Kingfisher portion. The motion passed by voice vote.
The council instructed staff (Daniel and others) to contact the sponsor to request the revised cost breakout. The decision leaves the rest of the Wasatch Woodlands proposal eligible for future consideration once the sponsor provides the requested breakdown or an updated scope excluding Kingfisher.
Next steps: staff will ask the sponsor for a property-by-property cost breakdown or a version of the proposal that removes Kingfisher and returns the reduced budget for council review.
