An unidentified council member moved to reconsider "item S12 from the 01/12/2026 agenda to be reconsidered at the regular meeting 01/26/2026," and the motion was seconded, the presiding official said. After brief questions about timing and procedure, the presiding official called for a vote and announced the motion "Passes 5 to 2." The transcript does not include a roll-call record showing individual yes/no votes.
Councilors and staff framed the special meeting as a narrow procedural action limited to deciding whether to bring the item back for public reconsideration. Councilor Diane Dante asked whether other motions could be made at a special meeting; the presiding official replied this vote was "just a motion to reconsider."
A council member reminded colleagues that background materials and city staff are available to help understand agenda items and specifically suggested contacting Brian McCann for assistance on staff reports and supporting papers. The same speaker urged newly seated council members to use those resources before meetings.
Several speakers emphasized that mistakes can happen and that councilors should have the courage to request reconsideration if they are concerned about prior votes. City staff also advised that, should the council later choose to deny the lease and pursue renegotiation, an executive session with counsel could be appropriate to discuss negotiation parameters before returning to a public meeting.
