Denison council approves road‑grading contract for several local roads

Denison — The City Council approved a contract with Madison Excavation to perform grading and material work on several rural and neighborhood roads, including stretches of 3rd West and 3rd South, after reviewing bid comparisons and road conditions.

Council members and staff described recurring damage to certain roads, especially where past oil‑field operations removed road crowns and left surfaces prone to water pooling. Staff reviewed two competitive bids and advised taking the lower bid for the areas identified. One line item discussed in the meeting was roughly $56,000 for material on a portion of the project.

Council made and seconded a motion to accept Madison Excavation’s bid; roll‑call votes followed and the motion passed. Council directed staff to schedule the work and to consider phasing other road repairs into next year’s budget.

Next steps: staff will execute the contract, schedule grading and material placement for the coming season, and report back when mobilization dates are set.
