On Sept. 5 the Westborough Advisory Finance Committee voted 9–0–0 to recommend that Town Meeting approve the transfer of $201,194.34 from the stabilization fund to the Westborough Affordable Housing Trust. McMahon moved the recommendation; it was seconded and approved by voice vote.
Committee members discussed the origin and allowable uses of the funds, identifying them as Pulte-related — monies tied to developer contributions that historically have been used for affordable housing or senior-related uses. A member noted some of these funds have been earmarked for senior center uses in prior discussions; the chair said the warrant explanation delegates the money for construction of affordable housing and suggested staff follow up on any allowable senior uses before the vote at Town Meeting.
The committee recommended the transfer to appear on the Special Town Meeting warrant for final action by Town Meeting members.
