At its April 23 meeting the Westborough Select Board approved several routine motions, from event permits to personnel and legal procedural actions.
Permits and events: The board approved a temporary road closure for Jasper Street (North Street to Benjamin Drive) on May 11 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. to allow Nurse Farm to participate in the town’s Westboro Unplugs week event. The board also approved an amendment to Saint Stephen's Episcopal Church’s license to hold monthly bingo between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Tuesdays.
Boards and personnel: The Veterans Advisory Board's membership cap was raised from 9 to 15 members to accommodate additional projects. The board approved amended job descriptions aligning the assistant town accountant and the grants-administrator/procurement-officer roles to report to the newly created town accountant. The board moved and approved the appointment of a registrar of voters for a term ending March 30, 2027 (the motion included an initial transcribed name and subsequent clarifications in discussion). The board also approved minutes for several recent meetings.
Legal procedure: The vice chair moved to enter executive session under Mass. Gen. Laws chapter 30A §21(a)(3) and §21(a)(7) to discuss strategy on multiple pending litigations and to approve executive-session minutes; the chair declared that open session would be detrimental and the board took a roll-call vote and proceeded into executive session.
Each item was moved, seconded and approved in the public session; the public transcript records the approvals but in many cases does not include a full roll-call tally for routine votes.
