Senate lists dozens of bills for reading and committee referral; committee schedule set

On Jan. 22 the Arizona State Senate conducted routine legislative business: the clerk read a lengthy list of bills for second reading, the body listed many bills on first reading and noted committee referrals, and leadership announced committee meeting schedules.

Bills read on second reading included (as recited) SB1205 (motor vehicle booting fees regulation), SB1216 (traumatic event counseling), SB1232 (military combat impairment zoning), SB1245 (appropriation for ADOT Rodeo Road) and a range of others covering elections, appropriations, public safety, health, and natural resources. On first reading the clerk read further bills and recorded referrals to committees including Finance; Judiciary and Elections; Natural Resources; Appropriations; and Regulatory Affairs and Government Efficiency.

The Majority Leader announced committee meeting times for the coming day, with Rules at 1:00 p.m. and multiple committees scheduled at 1:30 p.m. The journal recorded an executive nomination for the Arizona Board of Regents (James McCain) and the president announced the appointment of Senator Kavanaugh to a committee to replace Senator Schamp.

The session concluded with a motion to adjourn moved by the Majority Leader and a voice vote in which the presiding officer declared the ayes had it; no floor votes on the listed bills were recorded in the transcript of this meeting.
