The City of North Miami board voted unanimously Jan. 21 to approve a special-exception permit that will allow vehicle sales limited to motorcycles and scooters at 1895 Northeast 150th Street.
Staff told the board the site is located in the M-1 industrial district surrounded by warehouse uses, that the floor plan includes about 300 square feet of office space and roughly 1,300 square feet of sales area, and that the property has about 10 parking spaces. Staff concluded the application met the six criteria required under the land-development regulations and recommended approval, while noting the applicant must obtain any necessary building permits and a City of North Miami certificate of use before operating.
Applicant Amador Reyes said the business will operate primarily through online sales, with vehicles stored inside the warehouse and customers coming to pick up purchases. "This is the only thing we're waiting, the certificate of use for North Miami, and we're ready to operate," Reyes said, adding that Miami-Dade County and fire-department approvals were already in place.
Board members asked whether walk-in customers would be allowed; staff and counsel clarified that the code does not bar walk-ins but the applicant indicated transactions will typically be completed online with in-person pickups or appointments. Counsel also told the board that proposed business hours in the application were not binding and that the applicant would not need to return to the board to expand hours.
A board member moved to approve the special exception and a second was recorded in the meeting minutes. The clerk then took a roll-call vote and the motion passed unanimously.
Next steps: the applicant will receive notification by email and must secure a city certificate of use and any required building permits for interior work before opening to customers.
