Italian exchange student praises Danville High in presentation to board

Jacob Bretz, principal of Danville High School, introduced Paolo Teddia, a 17-year-old exchange student from Sardinia, who told the board he decided to stay the full school year after a positive initial semester.

Teddia described the application and visa process as lengthy and costly, said he initially struggled with a new schedule and language differences, and praised the opportunity to choose electives such as photography and cooking. He also said he has made friends, played soccer and started training for baseball, and thanked his host family and the school community for supporting his stay.

"It's been a really interesting opportunity," Teddia said. "I'm pretty happy to be here." The board welcomed him and expressed appreciation for the perspective an exchange student brings to the community.
