Commission adopts fee schedule, ratifies federal permitting letter and approves tax adjustments

The Duchesne County Commission completed several routine but consequential actions during its meeting.

County fee schedule: Staff presented annual updates to the county fee schedule; notable changes include a new plan-review fee adopted earlier this year and an adjustment to negligent-burning charges set at 75% of state rates for certain fire responses. A motion to adopt the updated fee schedule was made and passed by voice vote.

Letter to Congress (permitting 'Speed' act): The commission ratified a pre-prepared letter of support asking Congress to streamline and standardize certain permitting timelines and processes. A motion to ratify the letter was moved and seconded and approved by voice vote; commissioners credited staff and outside counsel for swift preparation.

Tax adjustment: The commission approved a tax assessment adjustment for Romero Bravo after staff explained a previously recorded 'new home' had not been built and the parcel should be credited for the smaller structure that was present. The commission moved, seconded and approved the adjustment by voice vote.

Vouchers and invoices: Commissioners moved to accept vouchers for payment and discussed a few vendor invoices requiring follow-up (for example, an outstanding invoice from Altima and clarifications about direct payments to contractors). Staff agreed to follow up and ensure proper invoicing and contractor status in future payments.

Closed session and minutes: The commission also met briefly in closed session for personnel matters and approved minutes for the prior meeting dated Nov. 17, 2025.

Next steps: Staff will annotate the fee schedule changes, follow up on vendor invoice clarifications, and report back on the tax and fee items if additional documentation is needed.
