Legislative committee hears requests to introduce bills on child-welfare topics

Several bill requests were raised at the Committee on Child Welfare and Foster Care meeting before the presentation.

Representative Johnson introduced RS 2980, which she described as an amendment concerning reporting of certain child abuse or neglect and provisions related to anonymity; she submitted it on behalf of herself and Representative Beeler. An audience member speaking on behalf of KVC requested introduction of RS 2428, a proposal related to foster care home licensure and exceptions for youth aging out of foster care. The chair requested RS 2804 (relating to establishment of a child abuse and neglect registry) and RS 3058 (creating juvenile stabilization centers); no objections were raised during the meeting.

No votes or formal referrals occurred at the session; these were requests to introduce legislation for further consideration during the legislative process.
