Duchesne County’s public works director briefed the County Commission on planned repairs to 3000 West and other road maintenance work, saying crews have installed temporary patches and expect to finish permanent repairs soon.
Director Castro, introducing the department’s update, said crews “are working on 3000 West” and reported that a few temporary sellers/patches have been installed and should be fully patched in the near term. Staff estimated shoulder work and immediate repairs on 3000 West would cost about $4,000 if the commission wants the work expedited.
Commissioners raised safety concerns at a nearby intersection on Poland, where several collisions have occurred. One commissioner asked staff to plan for a four-way stop if field inspection and the January meeting with traffic stakeholders support that change. Director Castro said he has a scheduled meeting to review the intersection and will proceed based on that assessment.
The commission also considered a permit package. A motion to approve gross permits for permit number 056062 was offered during the public works discussion and moved forward for consideration.
County staff reported recent field inspections on Dugway and adjacent roads showed mostly stable pavement, though one localized failure will likely require overlay or an extended repair. Commissioners said they want the department to prioritize sections that present the most public-safety risk.
The department flagged a separate operational issue: Hollow Hollow’s geometry may be tight for two semis to pass cleanly. Staff said they will verify turning and clearance distances in the field and report back to the commission.
The commission closed the public works segment after placing the permit motion and directed staff to return with any needed traffic-control recommendations following the scheduled intersection review.
