The council appointed Bailey Montgomery to the Historic Preservation Commission. Montgomery introduced herself, said she and her family have lived in Farmington for about a year, described research into her historic house (built in 1880) and expressed enthusiasm for preservation work.
In his report, the city manager said the city had met with the school district and that staff (Lyle) had drafted a parking expansion concept for Canyon Creek to be reviewed by the school board. Council members also discussed traffic-safety improvements: decorative crosswalk painting and potential stoplight or pedestrian beacon options at Innovator and 1525, with staff noting that full stoplight installation could be months to a year out due to parts and power availability.
Council discussion about the regional park covered signage for a timed fireplace, potential sunshade and swings, a CERT-supported cost-saving approach for swings and ideas for community programming (including table-tennis for first responders to engage youth). Council asked staff to consider simple instructional signage for park features and to continue follow-up with designers and operations staff.
