During the Jan. 12 meeting the commission reviewed a series of local development updates and status reports but took no formal land-use actions on these items.
Commissioners asked about progress at the Asian Bistro property that was damaged by fire; staff reported owners are making incremental repairs (noting new glass in windows) but are struggling for funds and that inquiries to buy the building have been received though no sale was recorded. Staff explained building permits would expire if work lapses and unpaid taxes over five years could trigger county action.
The commission also queried the status of electric vehicle charging stations at Taco Bell; staff said the electrical design and utility connections were still being worked out. Separately, the group discussed Mountain America’s plan to relocate into a recently razed building footprint; because the new building would stay within the existing footprint, staff said a land-use change would likely not be required. Commissioners also asked about a potential Starbucks drive-thru and Wendy’s permitting, with staff noting partial plan submissions and outstanding site/traffic reviews.
No formal motions were made on these development updates; commissioners asked staff to continue follow-up with applicants and property owners.
