Margate commission approves consent agenda, reappoints Civil Service Board member and hears first reading of water-supply plan

At its regular meeting the Margate City Commission approved the consent agenda, which included minutes, procedural resolutions, reclassification of multimedia staff positions, stormwater infrastructure bid awards and authorization for a pilot water-treatment program.

The commission reappointed Jasmine Eubilis to the Civil Service Board for a term beginning Feb. 1, 2026, and approved the appointment of a commissioner trustee to the City of Margate Employee Benefit Trust Fund for the term 01/01/2026–05/31/2027 (the trustee position must be held by a commissioner). Commissioners asked staff questions about the trust's phase-out status and meeting frequency prior to the vote.

On ordinance business, the commission took first reading of an amendment to the city's Comprehensive Plan to adopt an updated 10-year water supply facilities work plan pursuant to Section 163.3177 of the Florida Statutes; the first reading was approved by roll call after no public comment was received.

All items noted were approved by roll-call votes; staff confirmed questions about budgeted funds and eligibility where asked by commissioners. Items requiring future action (e.g., second reading of the ordinance or implementation of pilot programs) were left for follow-up.
