Beaver City officials spent part of the Jan. 13 meeting laying groundwork for a community centennial celebration marking the city’s 100th birthday.
Council members and staff discussed options for timing and activities, including food trucks or vendors, live music and dance performances, indoor backup at the Opera House (and the KT venue) in case of poor weather, a short "state of the city" address and give‑away puzzles for residents. The council discussed possible dates, first considering Jan. 30 and Feb. 14; to allow more time for outreach and vendor scheduling the council agreed to pursue Feb. 14 (noon–2 p.m.) as the target date.
Council assigned staff and volunteers to reach out to food vendors, local dance groups and performers, and to coordinate logistics such as street closure of Center Street between Main Street and 100 East, stage scheduling and search-and-rescue support for safety. Council directed staff to finalize invitations, check Opera House/KT availability and begin public outreach. "We are going to shut down Center Street from Main Street to 100 East," the mayor said as part of summarizing the plan.
Next steps: staff will contact vendors and performers, coordinate with venue managers, publish event logistics once confirmed and return to council with a confirmed program and any permit or road‑closure needs.
