West Linn council to ask TriMet for answers after proposed service cuts

Council President Baumgartner and other members reported on proposed TriMet route and lift-service cuts that would reduce or remove service to parts of West Linn. Baumgartner said staff received incomplete information from TriMet and that several lines affecting West Linn would be reduced or reconfigured.

Council directed staff to draft a formal letter to TriMet outlining local impacts and to invite TriMet to present to the council. Council members also said they would raise the issue with state-level officials as appropriate and stressed that the council's outreach to TriMet is intended to clarify impacts and advocate for affected riders, not as a punitive step.

No formal resolution was adopted at the Jan. 20 work session; the mayor and city manager said they would work with council leadership on a draft letter and bring it back for review.
