Cass County commissioners voted to accept the low bid for Bridge 103 on Southeast River Road and to proceed with contract award to HIS Constructors for $1,049,396.48.
Highway department representative Jeff Smith told the board the county received five bids and that the recommended low bid was close to the engineer's estimate. "We did have 5 bids. And after review, we would like to recommend the low bid, from HIS constructors at $1,049,396.48," Jeff Smith said.
Commissioner Speaker 1 moved to accept the bid and Speaker 2 seconded; the board voted in favor. No amendments or alternative funding sources were discussed during the presentation.
The project was presented as meeting the engineer's expectations; the board did not record a separate discussion of schedule or contractor performance guarantees during the meeting. The award authorizes county staff to proceed with procurement steps consistent with county contracting procedures.
The commission listed the action on the record; follow-up items include contract finalization and any required notice to the successful and unsuccessful bidders.
