Katie De Cosmo, a planner in Wellington’s strategic planning department, told the board on Jan. 21 that the village is requesting adoption of ordinance 2026‑01 to incorporate a water supply facilities 10‑year work plan into the comprehensive plan. De Cosmo said the plan aligns with the Lower East Coast Water Supply Plan adopted by the South Florida Water Management District on Sept. 12, 2024, and meets the water‑supply planning requirements of Florida Statutes chapter 373.
The work plan presents population and water‑demand projections through 2045, evaluates water‑supply options and lists local and regional projects completed since the 2020 update, De Cosmo said. She asked the board to enter the file into the record and recommended approval of the ordinance and incorporation by reference into the public facilities and capital improvements elements.
Board members raised only minor scrivener items in the capital improvements section and staff agreed to correct them before forwarding the ordinance to council. Public comment produced no speakers on the item.
A motion to adopt PZ0400 and ordinance 2026‑01 carried unanimously. The board recorded the item as a routine compliance and administrative action; staff will forward the ordinance package, with the minor edits, to the village council for final action.
