The city manager provided several community updates, including a hiring event for public-works, parks and public-safety positions and a library jazz performance, and urged residents to check official sources during the municipal election season.
The manager said the HR-hosted "Fast Truck Hiring Event" will take place at the HUB from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will recruit positions such as streets and right-of-way workers, heavy equipment operators, truck drivers and park-maintenance staff. Seasonal hiring for summer positions including lifeguards and camp staff was also announced.
The manager noted a jazz trio — the Terry Burns Jazz Trio — will perform at Loma Colorado Library on Saturday from 3 to 4 p.m. and encouraged residents to engage with city library programming.
On election outreach, staff produced an informational brochure about the municipal election, bond questions and municipal-officer races and provided a city web resource at rrnm.gov/rrvotes for more details. The manager cautioned that social-media speculation about personnel changes earlier in the week had been retracted and encouraged fact-checking and source verification to avoid unnecessary concern for individuals and families.
These announcements followed the council's approval of the FY2026 midyear budget adjustments and came before the meeting's adjournment.
