Commissioners flag possible $6 million in general‑fund cuts; Rep. Blake Moore town hall announced

In closing remarks on Jan. 20, Commissioner Kamala thanked the public commenter who had raised child‑protection concerns and explained that prior uses of ARPA and state/local fiscal relief funds were constrained by federal rules. She said the elected county attorney and subject‑matter experts had advocated for public‑safety spending when one‑time funds were available and that, with current budgets, county leaders are discussing how to cut approximately $6,000,000 from the general fund while trying to maintain the level of service required by law.

Commissioner Kamala invited residents to engage with the budget process and said budget meetings are open and public. Commissioner Stevenson provided an update on regional dispatch consolidation, noting local cities are coordinating and projecting a phased move to new dispatch facilities with a county dispatch closure later in the year.

Separately, the Chair announced that Rep. Blake Moore will hold a town hall at 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 27 at the historic county courthouse (28 East State Street). The Chair noted Davis County is represented by two members of Congress, Celeste Maloy and Blake Moore, and encouraged participation at the upcoming town hall.
