Tolland Board approves transfer to educational reserve fund; amount in transcript unclear

The Tolland Board of Education on Jan. 14 voted unanimously to direct the town to transfer audited year-end Board of Education funds into the districts educational reserve fund, a mechanism allowed under Connecticut law (CGS 10-248a) and related public act language.

Superintendent Walt Willett described the legal basis and the mechanics of the transfer and explained the district typically proposes this after final audit figures are available. He said the transfer will be followed by notification to town finance so the accounts remain aligned.

The transcript of the meeting includes a garbled dollar amount for the proposed transfer; the superintendent said he will post the audited balance and exact transfer details to the board dashboard and provide an updated ERF balance once the transfer posts.

Outcome: Motion passed by roll call vote without dissent. Board members who voted in favor during the roll call included JP, Brian, Bill, Dana, Elaine, Joelle and Mackenzie.
