Providence Council congratulates Major Roger Aspinall on FBI National Academy graduation

The Providence City Council on Jan. 8 approved a resolution congratulating Major Roger Aspinall of the Providence Police Department on his graduation from the FBI National Academy.

Councilwoman Ryan, sponsor of the resolution, said the honor reflects Major Aspinall’s long service and leadership in the department. “This is a remarkable recognition of a distinguished service person for the city of Providence,” Ryan said. She added that Aspinall commands the department’s Uniform Bureau and that the academy “strengthens leadership, integrity, and professionalism in law enforcement.”

Councilwoman Peterson echoed the praise and noted a personal appreciation for Aspinall’s professionalism and willingness to work respectfully with council members. The clerk read the resolution into the record, which described Aspinall’s nearly 30 years of service and endorsed transmitting a copy of the resolution to him as an expression of the council’s respect and appreciation.

The clerk opened and closed the vote and announced 12 ayes and 3 absent; the motion carried on a voice vote and the resolution was approved.

The resolution recognizes Aspinall’s graduation from the FBI National Academy and commends his public service; it does not create or change department policy or funding.
