A Dinwiddie County meeting could not proceed with official business after members determined they did not have a quorum, and attendees agreed to reconvene on Feb. 18.
Speaker 1 called the roll and noted the group "could determine we don't have a quorum for voting," a determination later confirmed when Speaker 2 reported that only two members were present. "Since you don't have a quorum, you can't take any, legal actions or official actions tonight," Speaker 1 said, emphasizing that the body lacked the authority to adopt motions or votes.
Speaker 3, who opened the meeting and said they would call it to order, asked whether anything could be done other than rescheduling. After discussion, Speaker 3 stated, "Not having a quorum, we will reconvene on February 18 at the same time," and then moved to close the meeting. Speaker 2 closed the session by saying, "We are adjourned."
Because no formal motions, votes, or other official actions were taken, there are no outcomes or tallies to report. The most recent procedural step is the agreed reconvening date: Feb. 18 at the same time. The meeting record shows logistics checks and brief procedural remarks but no substantive agenda decisions.
If the group reconvenes with a quorum on the scheduled date, officials will be able to consider the items listed on the agenda; tonight's discussion was limited to scheduling and procedural clarification.
